Our pine is very good quality, it has been cut from selected standing dead trees and is very dry and ready to burn. We do not mix in lower grades of black spruce, poplar, sawmill ends or slabs. All pieces are hand selected to insure quality, the wood is clean and free from gravel, dirt and an excessive amount of bark or saw dust.

It is quite comparable to good birch. Fir is very popular because it makes a higher, brighter flame than birch. Heat value is almost the same.
The biggest advantage is that there is a LOT LESS ASH to clean up than with Birch

Many people that live in places where both birch and fir are available will often choose fir over birch as it burns almost as hot but has better burning qualities. Birch is a sappy wood that take about 2 years to dry properly.

If you burn birch before it is dry enough it can cause problems with creosote build up and is miserable to light. While birch is a very good firewood, it's not the best to use unless you can be sure it's properly seasoned. Dry birch is often difficult to find during the winter due to high demand and many firewood reseller will sell you unseasoned or green firewood because they have run out of dry wood. This Fir and Hemlock is dense and heavy wood, it burns longer and hotter due to the high levels of resins and lignin within the wood. Unlike birch (sappy wood) this fir and hemlock (resinous wood) firewood will burn better and more consistently even when not completely dry.
